Network Marketing – Is It All A Bunch of Hype?Have you ever felt like network marketing is just a bunch of hype? How many people do you know who have tried their hand at it and failed? Perhaps you are one of them. Have you ever noticed how only the elite few seem to experience the incredible success that multi-level marketing is purported to deliver and wondered what their secret is? Something’s missing but you can’t quite put your finger on what it is. After failing miserably at over half a dozen different MLM businesses, we had pretty much given up on the industry. We had nothing to show for all the time and energy we had spent, except a pile of inventory collecting dust and our credibility in tatters with many “ex-friends”. We were deeper in the hole than when we started and at this rate we were never going to get out of the rat race and become financially free. We were burnt out, tired of chasing our friends and family, and became wary of anyone trying to “recruit” us into another MLM company. It seemed that now our circle of friends mostly consisted of “serial” network marketers who jumped from one opportunity to the next and were constantly trying to hype us into the latest and greatest “deal of the month”. I swear that if I’m told one more time to “make my list” of everyone I know, I am going to scream. This technique has NEVER worked for me. I mean really, if you don’t want to be harassed to join someone else’s business, what on earth makes you think they want to be harassed by you to join your business? There is the crux of the issue. The real problem is not network marketing itself. In fact, it is just a business model, and a very effective and brilliant one at that. Like any other business, it has the potential for exceptional growth and revenues, and there are people who achieve that. The real problem is that you’re not being educated about effective marketing techniques that bring qualified, pre-sold prospects to you. You are being lied to. All those old out-of-date methods about prospecting that you are being taught simply do not work anymore! Trying to chase and convince unqualified people to join your business is a waste of your time. Getting them to do something is another matter altogether. The key is to position yourself so that qualified prospects are approaching or calling you. It is possible to achieve financial freedom using the network marketing business model. It’s a business you can do online from home which gives you the freedom to build it part-time or full-time from anywhere in the world. However, like any other business, it does require a commitment of time and money. In addition, you must treat it like a business (not a hobby), learn about sales and marketing and focus on ways to attract pre-sold prospects looking for your particular opportunity.
